Via Ellen Gould White in Florence
The town of Florence, in Italy, has a street named “Via Ellen Gould White”, co-founder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The street was inaugurated on Friday December 10th, 2021. It is the first time for an Adventist, and a woman, to be named in the Italian toponymy.

It all began when the Adventist University “Villa Aurora” of Florence presented a request to the designated bodies to name the street overlooked by the new campus facilities after the pioneer of the Adventist Church. The request was accepted, so the former name “Viuzzo del Pergolino” was changed.

The same day was also inaugurated the “Ellen G. White” Center for Studies and Documentation at the library of the Adventist campus. “This street name will draw people’s attention to Ellen White’s name and may encourage them to learn more about her and even to start reading some of her writings and be blessed by a closer walk with God” said Merlin D. Burt, Ellen G. White Estate Director, in a message sent for the special day.
